Thor fans slam Natalie Portman for ‘lying’ about Love and Thunder being ‘gay’ | Movies | Entertainment

The latest Marvel movie, Thor Love and Thunder, is now playing in cinemas – to incredible reviews. The Daily Express called him “colorful, bizarre, hilarious and downright entertaining” in their four-star review.

But fans have started to realize how sharp the movie is. In recent years, the Marvel Cinematic Universe has included more and more new gay or gay characters. Because of this, Disney fans hoped the new movie would focus on those relationships a bit more than just a fleeting reference.

Ahead of the London screening of Thor Love and Thunder earlier this week, fans had the opportunity to ask director Taika Waititi and film stars Tessa Thompson and Natalie Portman a few questions.

A fan asked Portman: “How gay is the movie?” She replied, “So gay.” Waititi also shouted in agreement, “Super gay!”

This response was clearly what the crowd wanted as they began to shout and clap in appreciation.

However, since then, fans started banging after the movie’s release.

A Twitter user and reviewer revealed: “Ahead of the THOR 4 screening last night, Natalie Portman called her ‘so gay’. Devastated to report – and really, you won’t believe it – that she lied. “

Another agreed that Portman had in some ways exaggerated the film’s weirdness.

Camille added, “The next time Natalie Portman says a movie is ‘so gay,’ I won’t believe her.” (sic)

A third continued: “It was the biggest lie of the century.” (sic)

However, many fans praised the film for its portrayal of gay characters.

Thompson said in an interview, “We’ve had a lot of conversations about [Valkyrie’s sexuality]. I think there are a lot of people who rightly want that representation to exist in these films, just like me.”

She added: “I also think [it’s important] not to hang the character’s hat solely on her gender identity just because she’s a queer character. I think that’s a way of downplaying his humanity, actually, if that’s the only facet you can explore him in.” (Via LA Times)

In Thor Love and Thunder there are two scenes that confirm that Valkyrie is bisexual. The first is a reference to his girlfriend who died in battle. Another shows Valkyrie kissing a woman’s hand.

So far, Marvel has only introduced a handful of openly gay heroes into its cinematic universe.

More recently, Phastos was shown with a husband and son in Eternals.

Prior to this, Loki confirmed that he had been with both men and women on his Disney Plus show.
