RRR is a gay love story, says Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pokkuty – Twitter calls him homophobic


Resul Pookutty calls RRR a gay love story: Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty poked fun at SS Rajamouli’s hit movie RRR. The film shows the lifelong affair of Jr NTR and Ram Charan in a action-oriented story set in the pre-independence era. Commenting on a Twitter post, Resul called RRR a “gay love story”. Resul Pookutty received a lot of backlash for his comments poking fun at the movie and its script. Many Twitter users commented on the same post, calling Resul a homophobe and a bully. One user wrote: “Homophobic alert. He makes fun of a movie by calling it “gay”. @TheAcademy what did you get awarded with an oscar? (sic),” another user wrote, “This is disrespectful to both the movie and the LGBTQ (sic) community.”

RRR, which also features Ajay Devgan and Shriya Saran in the brief role, is the biggest movie of the year. It has garnered over Rs 1200 crore at the Box Office as of this writing. Resul, meanwhile, is known for designing the sound of movies like Enthiran, Saawariya, Ra. One, Pushpa: Ascension and Radhe Shyam among others. In 2009, he received an Oscar for his work on Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire.
