SS Rajamouli’s “RRR” is back in the news. It’s currently trending on social media after some pointed out they consider it a “gay romance” rather than an “action” movie. Some Western audiences recently tweeted that they really enjoyed the romance between Ram Charan and Jr NTR. Reacting to this, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma reacted to the comments. He wrote: ”I was right. “They’re so gay” that Western audiences perceive “RRR” as a gay story.”

And now Oscar-winning actor Resul Pookutty has also said it’s a ‘gay love story’, citing a Times of India article.

How did fans react to the comment?

Fans of the film didn’t take Pookutty’s comments well and reacted angrily for fairly obvious reasons. Although Resul disabled the ability for fans to reply to his comment, many users quoted his tweet and expressed disappointment at the Oscar-winning actor’s unexpected response.

One user on Twitter wrote: “There is no shame or harm even if it’s this kind of #LGBT story. does not satisfy us.”

Another fan anticipated his disappointment, saying, “I didn’t expect this from an Oscar winner.” However, this isn’t the first time the film has been associated with the LGBTQ theme. After the film was released on Netflix, a number of international viewers were seen criticizing the bromance between the two leads.

The film, which has been identified as a pan-Indian film also dubbed in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada, tells a fictional pre-independence story woven around two real Indian revolutionaries in the 1920s – Alluri Sitarama Raju, played by Ram Charan, and Komaram Bheem. , written by NT Rama Rao Jr.

“RRR”, also one of the most successful Indian films of 2022, hit over 1,200 crore at the worldwide box office.

Meanwhile, Netflix said last month that the Hindi version of “RRR” had become “the most popular Indian film” on the streamer globally. The Hindi-dubbed version of the Telugu-language film arrived on Netflix on May 20, two months after its theatrical release worldwide.

According to the streaming platform, the movie “RRR” (Hindi), which has a running time of 3 hours 2 minutes, has been watched for “more than 45 million hours” across the world.

“RRR is now the most popular Indian film on Netflix globally,” Netflix announced on Twitter.

Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada versions of “RRR” began airing on ZEE5 from May 20.
