The Winston Family YMCA will host its annual Giving Tree Gala on March 26 in recognition of WW Bill Gay Community Impact Award winner and recipient Hugh Greene. Each year, the event commemorates and celebrates the contributions of WW Bill Gay and donors who help strengthen the Northeast Florida community.
Greene, who served as President and CEO of Baptist Health for nearly two decades, will be honored for his long-standing dedication, involvement and philanthropic efforts in building a stronger community health system.
“On behalf of the YMCA of the Winston Family, we are honored and delighted to recognize Hugh Greene as the recipient of the WW ‘Bill’ Gay Community Impact Award at the 2022 Giving Tree Gala,” said Tim Burrows, District Executive Director of Winston and YMCA of the Brooks family. “Hugh’s service leadership and dedication to caring for others are just some of the many reasons he was chosen as this year’s recipient. We are grateful for Hugh’s talent and all of his accomplishments in championing healthcare for our community of Jacksonville.
Greene’s initiatives included developing a program for uninsured workers, improving access to health care for the homeless, creating a fund with the Baptist Health Foundation to support health services. behavioral health and the defense of human rights and LGBTQ youth.
WW Gay and Hugh Greene are members of the OneJax Circle of Honor and both served as Chairs of the Annual Humanitarian Dinner in 1983 and 2018, respectively.
